Plumbers in Cheshire: local plumbing quotes, coming soon

Leaks, taps, toilets, bathrooms and hot water: how to find and compare local plumbers in Crewe, Nantwich and across Cheshire, and how plumbers can win local jobs.

Honest status: QuoteZila is pre-launch. Customers cannot post jobs yet, and no businesses are listed yet. This page explains how QuoteZila will work for plumbers, and for homeowners who need one. We are signing up local businesses first, starting in Cheshire.

What does a plumber do?

A plumber installs and repairs the pipework, taps, toilets, baths, showers and hot and cold water systems in your home. Typical jobs include:

  • Leaking taps, pipes and stopcocks
  • Toilet and cistern repairs or replacement
  • Blocked sinks, baths and waste pipes
  • Bathroom and shower installation
  • Hot water cylinders
  • Plumbing in washing machines and dishwashers
  • Outside taps and garden supplies
  • Tracing and repairing hidden leaks

What should I check before hiring a plumber?

General guidance, whichever way you find someone:

  • Gas work is different. Anything involving a gas appliance must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer, so see our heating engineers page for boilers and gas.
  • Ask whether they are on the WaterSafe register of approved plumbers, which covers compliance with water regulations.
  • Ask whether they carry public liability insurance.
  • Get a written quote saying what is included: parts, labour, waste removal and any call-out charge.
  • Ask what guarantee covers the work and any parts supplied.

Useful official sites: WaterSafe. QuoteZila is not affiliated with these organisations.

QuoteZila plans to show customers what we checked about each business and when. Those labels describe checks only and are not a guarantee of any business or its work.

How will QuoteZila help me find plumbers near me?

  1. Post your job for free. Describe the plumbing work and where you are.
  2. Matched local businesses send quotes. Each job is planned to go to a small number of suitable businesses, not the whole town.
  3. Compare. See what each quote includes, ask questions and review what has been checked.
  4. Choose. Pick who you want and agree the details in writing.

This is how QuoteZila is designed to work. Customer posting is not open yet.

What should I put in my plumber job description?

  • Describe what is wrong or what you want fitted, and where in the house it is.
  • Say whether the water is currently isolated or still leaking.
  • Attach a photo of the fitting, pipework or the room.
  • Say if you want to choose the taps, toilet or bathroom suite yourself or have the plumber supply them.

Are you a plumber in Cheshire? How can you get local work with no lead fees?

QuoteZila is built so that local businesses spend their time quoting, not buying enquiries. Our intention is no lead fees: you would not pay per enquiry, per job or per quote. The first 500 businesses to join at launch (the Launch 500) get 2 months free with no card needed. After that the planned price is £15 a month, starting later and only once you accept the terms. That is our current plan, not a contract. Choose Plumbing as your main trade on the sign-up form and tell us how far you travel.

Which Cheshire towns will QuoteZila cover?

We are launching first in Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach, Congleton, Winsford, Middlewich, and the wider county. See the Cheshire areas page for details. A launch area is where we plan to start, not a claim that plumbers are already listed there.

Frequently asked questions about plumbers

Do I need a Gas Safe plumber?

For gas work, such as a boiler, gas hob or gas fire, you must use a Gas Safe registered engineer. For water-only jobs such as taps, toilets and leaks, Gas Safe registration is not the relevant scheme. Check what the job involves and ask for the right credentials.

How do I stop a leak while I wait for a plumber?

Turn off the water at the stopcock, which is usually where the mains pipe enters the house, often under the kitchen sink. Turn it clockwise to close. If water is near electrics, switch the power off safely and get urgent help.

What should a plumbing quote include?

It should list the work, the parts to be supplied, labour, any call-out or waste charges, and what happens if the job turns out to be bigger than expected. Ask for it in writing before work starts.

Can I find a plumber on QuoteZila yet?

Not yet. QuoteZila is pre-launch and is signing up local businesses first, starting in Cheshire. Customer job posting is coming soon and will be free for customers. If you are a plumber in Cheshire you can register your interest in the Launch 500 now, with 2 months free and no card needed.
