Honest status: QuoteZila is pre-launch. Customers cannot post jobs yet, and no businesses are listed yet. This page explains how QuoteZila will work for gardeners and landscapers, and for homeowners who need one. We are signing up local businesses first, starting in Cheshire.
What does a gardener or landscaper do?
Gardeners look after gardens through the year, while landscapers design and build new features. Typical jobs include:
- Lawn mowing and regular maintenance
- Hedge trimming
- Garden clearance and tidy-ups
- Planting and border design
- Patios, paths and paving
- Turfing and new lawns
- Pressure washing
- Tree work, which needs a specialist
What should I check before hiring a gardener or landscaper?
General guidance, whichever way you find someone:
- Agree whether you want a one-off job or regular visits, and put the scope and frequency in writing.
- For tree work, ask about training and insurance, and check whether the tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order or in a conservation area. Your local council can tell you.
- Ask who removes the waste. Anyone carrying waste away for a business should be a registered waste carrier, and householders have a duty to take reasonable steps to check.
- Ask whether they bring their own equipment and whether you need to provide water or access.
- For landscaping, ask for a design or sketch and a clear list of materials.
- Ask whether they carry public liability insurance.
QuoteZila plans to show customers what we checked about each business and when. Those labels describe checks only and are not a guarantee of any business or its work.
How will QuoteZila help me find gardeners and landscapers near me?
- Post your job for free. Describe the gardening work and where you are.
- Matched local businesses send quotes. Each job is planned to go to a small number of suitable businesses, not the whole town.
- Compare. See what each quote includes, ask questions and review what has been checked.
- Choose. Pick who you want and agree the details in writing.
This is how QuoteZila is designed to work. Customer posting is not open yet.
What should I put in my gardener or landscaper job description?
- Describe the garden size and what you want done, with a few photos.
- Say whether you want a one-off job or regular maintenance, and how often.
- Mention access, such as side gates, steps or limited parking.
- Say if you want green waste taken away.
Are you a gardener or landscaper in Cheshire? How can you get local work with no lead fees?
QuoteZila is built so that local businesses spend their time quoting, not buying enquiries. Our intention is no lead fees: you would not pay per enquiry, per job or per quote. The first 500 businesses to join at launch (the Launch 500) get 2 months free with no card needed. After that the planned price is £15 a month, starting later and only once you accept the terms. That is our current plan, not a contract. Choose Gardening & landscaping as your main trade on the sign-up form and tell us how far you travel.

Which Cheshire towns will QuoteZila cover?
We are launching first in Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach, Congleton, Winsford, Middlewich, and the wider county. See the Cheshire areas page for details. A launch area is where we plan to start, not a claim that gardeners and landscapers are already listed there.
Frequently asked questions about gardeners and landscapers
Do gardeners take away green waste?
Some do and some do not, and it may be a separate charge. Say in your job description that you want waste removed, and ask the business to include it in the quote.
Do I need permission to cut down a tree?
Sometimes. Trees can be protected by a Tree Preservation Order or by conservation area rules. Check with your local council before any tree work.
Should I choose regular visits or a one-off job?
A one-off tidy-up suits a neglected garden or a sale. Regular visits suit keeping a garden in shape. Many businesses offer both, so say which you want.
