Honest status: QuoteZila is pre-launch. Customers cannot post jobs yet, and no businesses are listed yet. This page explains how QuoteZila will work for plasterers, and for homeowners who need one. We are signing up local businesses first, starting in Cheshire.
What does a plasterer do?
A plasterer applies smooth, hard-wearing finishes to walls and ceilings, inside and out. Some also fix plasterboard (dry lining) and apply external render. Typical jobs include:
- A skim coat over old plaster or new plasterboard
- Patching cracks, holes and damage
- Full re-plastering after rewiring, plumbing or damp work
- Plastering new extensions and loft conversions
- Ceiling repairs and re-skimming
- Coving, cornicing and decorative mouldings
- External render on walls
- Dry lining and plasterboard fixing
What should I check before hiring a plasterer?
General guidance, whichever way you find someone:
- Ask for a written quote that says which walls and ceilings are included, and whether preparation, protecting floors and removing waste are covered.
- Ask whether they carry public liability insurance, and ask to see the certificate.
- Ask how they will prepare the surface. Good adhesion matters more than speed.
- Agree when you can paint. New plaster needs to dry out fully first, and your plasterer can advise on timing.
- Ask to see photos of recent similar work, and speak to a past customer if you can.
- If your home is old or listed, say so up front: lime plaster or special rules may apply.
QuoteZila plans to show customers what we checked about each business and when. Those labels describe checks only and are not a guarantee of any business or its work.
How will QuoteZila help me find plasterers near me?
- Post your job for free. Describe the plastering work and where you are.
- Matched local businesses send quotes. Each job is planned to go to a small number of suitable businesses, not the whole town.
- Compare. See what each quote includes, ask questions and review what has been checked.
- Choose. Pick who you want and agree the details in writing.
This is how QuoteZila is designed to work. Customer posting is not open yet.
What should I put in my plasterer job description?
- Say which rooms or walls, and whether they are bare brick, plasterboard or existing plaster.
- Give rough sizes, or attach a photo of each wall and ceiling.
- Mention damp, cracks, wallpaper or old paint that needs removing first.
- Say if the plastering must be finished before decorators, or a kitchen or bathroom fitter, start.
Are you a plasterer in Cheshire? How can you get local work with no lead fees?
QuoteZila is built so that local businesses spend their time quoting, not buying enquiries. Our intention is no lead fees: you would not pay per enquiry, per job or per quote. The first 500 businesses to join at launch (the Launch 500) get 2 months free with no card needed. After that the planned price is £15 a month, starting later and only once you accept the terms. That is our current plan, not a contract. Choose Plastering as your main trade on the sign-up form and tell us how far you travel.

Which Cheshire towns will QuoteZila cover?
We are launching first in Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach, Congleton, Winsford, Middlewich, and the wider county. See the Cheshire areas page for details. A launch area is where we plan to start, not a claim that plasterers are already listed there.
Frequently asked questions about plasterers
What is the difference between skimming and re-plastering?
Skimming puts a thin finishing coat over a sound surface such as plasterboard or existing plaster in good condition. Re-plastering removes failing plaster and applies new base and finish coats. A good plasterer will tell you which your walls need once they have seen them.
How long before I can paint new plaster?
It depends on the thickness, the room and the weather, but new plaster must dry out fully first, and that can take days to weeks. Your plasterer will advise; painting too early can cause peeling or marks.
Do plasterers also do external rendering?
Many do, but not all. When you describe your job, say whether it is internal plastering or external render, so only suitably experienced businesses quote.
Can I find a plasterer on QuoteZila yet?
