Heating engineers in Cheshire: boiler and heating quotes, coming soon

Boiler services, repairs, replacements, radiators and landlord gas safety checks: how to find and compare local heating engineers, and how engineers can get local jobs.

Honest status: QuoteZila is pre-launch. Customers cannot post jobs yet, and no businesses are listed yet. This page explains how QuoteZila will work for heating engineers, and for homeowners who need one. We are signing up local businesses first, starting in Cheshire.

What does a heating engineer do?

A heating engineer installs, services and repairs boilers, radiators, controls and hot water systems. Typical jobs include:

  • Annual boiler services
  • Boiler repairs and fault finding
  • Boiler replacement
  • Radiator replacement and balancing
  • Thermostats and smart heating controls
  • Landlord gas safety checks
  • Underfloor heating
  • Heat pump advice and installation

What should I check before hiring a heating engineer?

General guidance, whichever way you find someone:

  • By law, work on gas appliances must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Ask to see their Gas Safe ID card and check it on the Gas Safe Register.
  • The card shows what types of gas work they are qualified to do. Check it matches your job.
  • For oil-fired boilers, ask about OFTEC registration.
  • Heat pumps: if you hope to use a government grant, check the installer's certification requirements first, as rules change.
  • Ask what warranty or guarantee comes with a new boiler and its installation.
  • Keep service records. Many manufacturers ask for regular servicing to keep a warranty valid.

Useful official sites: Gas Safe Register. QuoteZila is not affiliated with these organisations.

QuoteZila plans to show customers what we checked about each business and when. Those labels describe checks only and are not a guarantee of any business or its work.

How will QuoteZila help me find heating engineers near me?

  1. Post your job for free. Describe the heating work and where you are.
  2. Matched local businesses send quotes. Each job is planned to go to a small number of suitable businesses, not the whole town.
  3. Compare. See what each quote includes, ask questions and review what has been checked.
  4. Choose. Pick who you want and agree the details in writing.

This is how QuoteZila is designed to work. Customer posting is not open yet.

What should I put in my heating engineer job description?

  • Give the make, model and approximate age of your boiler, if you know it.
  • Describe the fault, any error codes, and whether heating, hot water or both are affected.
  • For a replacement, say how many bedrooms and bathrooms the home has.
  • Say if you rent the property out and need a gas safety certificate.

Are you a heating engineer in Cheshire? How can you get local work with no lead fees?

QuoteZila is built so that local businesses spend their time quoting, not buying enquiries. Our intention is no lead fees: you would not pay per enquiry, per job or per quote. The first 500 businesses to join at launch (the Launch 500) get 2 months free with no card needed. After that the planned price is £15 a month, starting later and only once you accept the terms. That is our current plan, not a contract. Choose Heating & boilers as your main trade on the sign-up form and tell us how far you travel.

Which Cheshire towns will QuoteZila cover?

We are launching first in Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach, Congleton, Winsford, Middlewich, and the wider county. See the Cheshire areas page for details. A launch area is where we plan to start, not a claim that heating engineers are already listed there.

Frequently asked questions about heating engineers

How do I check a heating engineer is Gas Safe registered?

Ask to see their Gas Safe ID card, then check the engineer on the official Gas Safe Register. The card shows which types of gas work they can legally carry out.

How often should a boiler be serviced?

Manufacturers generally recommend a service once a year. Check your boiler's instructions and warranty, and ask your engineer.

What is a landlord gas safety certificate?

Landlords who provide gas appliances in rented homes must have them checked every year by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and give tenants a copy of the record. Ask your engineer to explain what is covered.

Can I find a heating engineer on QuoteZila yet?
